Upscale grille preps opening on West End
Despite the economic turmoil, two new fine-dining establishments are opening their doors either side of downtown.
Slated to open its doors on West End Avenue next month is 1808 Grille, which will seek to lure the sophisticated crowd from its location in the new Hutton Hotel. The restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner menus in addition to a bar menu featuring a variety of small plates.
According to its Web site, 1808 hopes to be a place for “corporate breakfasts and lunches, romantic dinners or relaxed nights out.?The facility also will offer private dining.
At the helm is Chef Charles Phillips, a graduate of Johnson & Wales in Providence, R.I. His menus, which can be found at 1808grille.com, center around so-called New American cuisine ?as the restaurant puts it, “classic dishes with a global twist.?
